Gardening for the Soul
It’s my favorite time of the year, its spring time!!! I just love the scenery. The flowers, the baby animals, the beautiful shades of green, the weather, flying kites, blowing bubbles, the time change, I JUST LOVE SPRING!!! One thing my family does often in the spring is yard work. (Now that’s one thing I am NOT a fan of.) We have to rake all the dead leaves up, tare all the vines off the fence, pull up all the weeds in the flower bed, over turn and up root the dirt in the flower bed, mow the lawn, and plant seeds and new flowers in the flower bed. This is a very hard job and of course I try to get out of it. LOL. However, it must be done to keep the property looking nice. Unfortunately, we spend almost two Saturday’s doing the job and of course maybe a week or two later we go back out for maintenance. No matter how long we take to do yard work we still have to maintain the yard by mowing the lawn, watering the flowers, and pulling up weeds. As, Christian’s after we initially do the hard yard work of coming to Christ, repenting, baptism, and being filled with the Holy Ghost. We still have a job to do by maintaining it. We still have to constantly check our property for vines of bad habits (that we thought we got rid of), weeds of deception (that choke our fruits of good deeds), up root and overturn our soil (to keep our foundation in Christ fertile), and mow the lawn (fasting and praying to keep our unruly flesh under control). We must maintain our property so the enemy won’t gradually mess up our property. With maintaining our property we must plant seeds of witnessing, giving, forgiving, sharing, and praying for someone etc. We also must water those seeds with the Eternal Word of God. Even though I try to get out of yard work as much as possible I know that spiritually I must keep up my property. I must maintain my property from those things that will cause my property to be messed up. So, I can’t get lazy when I see those vines, over grown grass, weeds etc. and put it off for another week or two. The longer you wait to fix these problems the harder you have to work to fix the problem. So, LET’S DO SOME GARDENING!!!
This is a gr8 post! Praise God! It's true. Old habits, which I actually posted about do come back to us to test us. They test us to see if we've actually gotten over and if we'll revert. B/C of Christ, we are overcomers!
