Look for a better parking spot
This morning when I pulled into the parking lot at work I was so happy to see a couple of empty spots in the second row. I pulled right up and started to put my car in park until I glanced to my left, to my surprise there was an empty parking spot in the first row right next to the handicap spots. I was so excited and drove my little car right on in it. J As I put the car in park I began to think that if I would’ve settled for the parking spot in the second row I would have missed out on my blessing for the parking spot in the first row. Often times with things in our lives we settle for a second row parking spot. We settle for something that is comfortable and simple but we often miss out of that first row spot. When I told my story I forgot to mention that I almost settle for that second row spot. I thought to myself that this spot is a cool spot and it’s still closer than the third and fourth row spot. I almost cheated myself out of a blessing because I was willing to settle. God wants us to strive for a first row spot with him and not settle for the second row. When I started seeking God last year, I could’ve easily settled for just going to church more often. Or just settled for praying a little more often because after all it was better than not going to church or praying, Right? Wrong. I would’ve cheated myself out of a marvelous experience of finding the truth and walking in holiness. We should always strive for a better place or spot with God. Settling for just a second row experience can cause us to miss out on feeling the presences of God and his blessings. It’s not enough to go to church, read our bible, or pray. We have to fast, we have to study the word for more than 15 minutes, we have to pray and communicate with God, we have to give up those sinful behaviors. We have to consistently work toward a better place with God because the devil is looking for the person who just settles. He is looking for that person who does the very minimum because he knows that he can plant that seed of discouragement, laziness, doubt etc, ultimately causing you to lose the spot you had and even backsliding. DON’T SETTLE, KEEP STRIVING FOR A BETTER SPOT WITH GOD!!!
(While I was writing this the power went out on one side of the building. And I had to rewrite some of this. I think someone needed to read this and the devil was trying to stop it from happening.)
