Pork and Beans or Steak man???

In my past I often had a pork and beans relationship. My pork and bean relationship were those guys who were cool to hang out with but not what I wanted. They were those guys who had some qualities I wanted in a husband but not everything. However, I think those guys were actually comfortable being just pork and beans. It wasn’t the best relationship but it was better than a baloney sandwich and I wasn’t starving but I have to admit I wasn’t satisfied. The pork and beans guys caused many tears, scars and heartbreak. The pork and bean relationships sometimes were seasoned differently or had more pork in it but at the end of the day it still was pork and beans. The sad part was I knew I wanted a full course steak meal. I knew actually what I wanted for a husband but I was so scared to let the pork and beans go because I didn’t know what my next meal would be. But God… One day I got fed up with the Pork and beans meals and said, “I rather starve and be in God’s will than continue eating these NASTY pork and beans.” (Not exactly what I said but you get the point). I was completely done with giving myself away and living a sinful life. I told God that if I had to be alone that I would rather be alone and in his will then live in sin and go to hell. God saw my heart and my actions that followed, (I throw away those pork and beans)and he sent a full course steak meal my way. He blessed me with a wonderful guy who was everything I wanted in a husband. A guy who not only said he was a Christian but his lifestyle showed it!!! A year later I am happily married and still enjoying my full course steak meal that God had given me. Often times as single woman we settle or lower our standards for guys because we are afraid to be alone. We are afraid to be left out when all our other friends are dating. We are afraid to take that step and say NO MORE I DESERVE BETTER!!! We sike ourselves out by thinking, “Well he’s not that bad; He is better than my last guy; or I can deal with it.” But God wants us to be happy and he will bless us but we have to give up those PORK AND BEANS!!! I am a living witness that when you live in God’s will that he will bless you… Just take that leap of faith and know that God will carry and provide for you!!!

January 15 use to be an exciting day for me, but in April 2011 something changed me... Stop Playing the Victim

Often times in situations such as disagreement/arguments or when things didn’t go my way in the pass I would play the victim. I would automatically get in my feelings, get an attitude and choose to respond to the situation as if everyone was out to get me. Often times I would rehearse in my head how I would respond to that person the next time we would speak. Or I would dwell on whatever didn’t go my way and go around with my lips poked out and had an attitude with everyone. Lately, God has brought this to my attention. Basically he told me,”STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM!!!” It so easy to throw myself Pity Party and of course I was VIP. Press On

This morning, before doing my hour of prayer, the enemy started putting thoughts in my head to go back to sleep and do my hour of prayer later. I have to admit I was tired and wanted to go back to sleep but I knew if I pushed it off I wouldn’t do it. So, I pressed my way out of bed and began to pray. The enemy came back while I was praying and put every thought in my head to distract me from my talk with God. However I pressed on and kept praying. I noticed when I started praying that tired spirit left me. If we could just continue to press on when things get rough or even when we don’t feel like it we will reap the rewards of being loyal and faithful to God. The enemy will try to trick you and tell you that it’s no use and that you are wasting your time. Just remember God blesses those who remain loyal to him.
