Straight Street and Broadway

One day a long time ago I decided to buy this unique GPS. This GPS was like no other. It was the only GPS of its kind and it guaranteed that if I followed it’s directions it would get me to a Special place. So, I started using the GPS and it lead me to a road called, “Straight Street”. I notice sometimes the road was smooth but often times I notice the road was very bumpy and rough. I didn’t understand why but the GPS assured me that I was going in the right direction on “Straight Street”. As I traveled I also notice some other things like how narrow “Straight Street” was and how there weren’t too many people traveling down this road. I started to think my GPS was broken and I thought maybe I should return it.
One day as I was traveling down, “Straight Street” I noticed the road getting really bumpy and I hit a couple of huge pot holes. I started to get upset and could not understand why “Straight Street” was so difficult to follow if it was suppose to lead me to a Special place. I kept traveling in search of another road. As I traveled, I came to another road on the left called “Broadway”. As I looked I noticed it was more people on that road and I also noticed how smooth the road looked. So, I decided to turn off and see where “Broadway” would lead me. As soon as I made the turn my GPS told me to REROUTE, TURN BACK. I ignored it and continued to travel down “Broadway”. “Broadway” was a nice road it was so huge, there were plenty of familiar faces and the road was so smooth to travel. I thought to myself, “Why in the world would that GPS lead me down that rough narrow path when this road was so much easier to follow?” As I traveled my GPS continue to tell me to REROUTE, TURN BACK. Of course I ignored it. I was having the time of my life why would I turn around.
As I continued to travel, I notice that the road continued to get darker. I noticed in a far off distances I could see what appeared to be fire and I heard loud screaming. I was a little confused and afraid. I also noticed that my GPS didn’t talk to me as much anymore, the last thing I remember hearing my GPS say was “TURN OR BURN”. “Broadway” started to get darker and scarier. I became afraid. I finally asked my GPS to help me get of this terrible road. I started thinking about “Straight Street” and how difficult the road was but no matter how the road was at the end was a peaceful beautiful light. This light was indescribable and I wanted to get back to “Straight Street”. My GPS showed me how to get back to “Straight Street”. It wasn’t easy because I had to leave a lot of things behind. As I finally neared “Straight Street” my GPS told me to TURN RIGHT. As I did I began to feel at peace. Yes “Broadway” was a smooth road but I didn’t like what was waiting at the end.
 I am still traveling down “Straight Street” and yes the road is still bumpy and rough. I still have notice that there aren’t too many people traveling on “Straight Street” but I do know that in far distances is a beautiful light that leads to eternal life. (Written by Lena Kinslow)

GPS= God’s Word
Straight Street= The path to eternal life with God.
Broadway=The path to eternity with the devil.

January 15 use to be an exciting day for me, but in April 2011 something changed me... Denouncing Alpha Kappa Alpha and Sticking to it!!!

I pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated in Fall of 2006. As we went through a MIP (Member Intake Process) process, I can remember being in a dark room with lite candles. I can remember kneeling in front of a table with items on it. I remember repeating oaths and singing songs. I can remember thinking, "This is demonic" but I brushed the feelings off and counted it toward nerves. A year later I remember someone saying that AKA and other Greek organizations were of the devil. I stood strong on what I knew and said it was a lie. I said, we pray and mention the name of Jesus in oaths so that's not true. Almost a year later from that time, my LS called me and said, "Did we sell our souls to the devil?" She stated that she read some things online and saw a YouTube video that talked about Greek symbols and how the Greek organizations are a trick of the devil. Stop Playing the Victim

Often times in situations such as disagreement/arguments or when things didn’t go my way in the pass I would play the victim. I would automatically get in my feelings, get an attitude and choose to respond to the situation as if everyone was out to get me. Often times I would rehearse in my head how I would respond to that person the next time we would speak. Or I would dwell on whatever didn’t go my way and go around with my lips poked out and had an attitude with everyone. Lately, God has brought this to my attention. Basically he told me,”STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM!!!” It so easy to throw myself Pity Party and of course I was VIP. I never looked at the situation from the other person’s point of view and most importantly I never looked at the situation from God’s point of view.
