Stop Playing the Victim
Often times in situations such as disagreement/arguments or when things didn’t go my way in the pass I would play the victim. I would automatically get in my feelings, get an attitude and choose to respond to the situation as if everyone was out to get me. Often times I would rehearse in my head how I would respond to that person the next time we would speak. Or I would dwell on whatever didn’t go my way and go around with my lips poked out and had an attitude with everyone. Lately, God has brought this to my attention. Basically he told me,”STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM!!!” It so easy to throw myself Pity Party and of course I was VIP. I never looked at the situation from the other person’s point of view and most importantly I never looked at the situation from God’s point of view.
When I started looking at the situation from the other person point of view I notice that I looked at the person and their background. I also ask myself, “Is there something I’m doing or how I’m responding that is causing this situation to be worse?” In the spiritual point of view I ask myself, “Am I representing Christ by my actions? Am I passing this test by my response? Is the devil using this person to steal my joy?” These questions helped me realize that playing the victim was only allowing the devil to steal my joy and to cause confusion. When I was able to release that that negative energy by thinking of these questions, I was able to STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM. It’s not easy to talk to someone when you know they don’t like you or when they have mad you upset. It’s not easy to keep your head up when it seems like everything is not working in your favor. But in these situations I have to remind myself that God needs to get the glory out of the situation and that it’s not about me but it’s about showing a Christ like attitude. When I play the victim it only allows confusion, hostility, and anger to manifest. When that takes place the devil is jumping for joy. So, Don’t PLAY THE VICTIM instead ask God to show you how to deal with the situation so that he can get the glory and lead others to Christ!!!
Wow! You are truly being used by God 'cuz I do this & I was wondering why I'm on such an edge with certain people? Afraid of getting hurt? or expecting ppl to fail & looking at certain things that people say 2 me from a negative point of view...it's bad but that's something I have to work on.
ReplyDeleteThis is a big thing for me too... I find myself slipping into that victim attitude often but I have to rebuke that spirit and pray hard to get myself together... I realized playing the victim is what the devil wants us to do so he can continue to cause problems... But God is an Awesome God and he must get the glory... Even when I mess up I have to fix the situation so God can get the glory...
